Get Involved and Start a Team!

Are you a natural leader? Do you have friends, family and co-workers that you would like to ride or walk with? If so, this is a great opportunity to form your own Katie Ride team and join our movement!

Teams consist of four or more people who want to participate on event day and share their experience of making a difference.

Forming a team is easy:

1. Pick a team captain – someone with great leadership abilities, communication skills and enthusiasm!
2. Choose a team name – it can be the name of your company, group or something fun that you make up (like “The Crazy Dogs”)!
3. Recruit team members – ask all of your friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors and community members to join your team. The more, the better – even if everyone doesn’t know each other at first. It’s a great way to build new friendships!
4. Plan regular training rides – your team can join in on any of our regularly scheduled training rides or do your own in your area. We recommend at least three or four group rides prior to the event. Make them fun – have everyone introduce themselves, have a “bring a friend” ride, ask everyone to bring a dish to share afterward, ask a yoga teacher to lead you through some stretches after the ride, etc. Be creative and make these get-togethers fun and festive!
5. Raise funds as a team – set a team fundraising goal and then encourage everyone to work towards it. Hold a car wash, happy hour or other “donations accepted” event to raise funds in your community.
6. Send out weekly emails – regular communication with your team is very important! Get in touch once a week to update everyone on your fundraising, upcoming training rides, other events and general encouragement and inspiration!
7. Get matching team jerseys – this is optional, but why not create a team look? Customized jerseys can be printed at most apparel printers with your team name, logo and any other information you like.
8. Show up on event day together, take a team photo, start the ride together and celebrate when you are finished!
